{"id":326,"date":"2023-02-10T09:20:07","date_gmt":"2023-02-10T08:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.english-tutor.at\/news\/?p=326"},"modified":"2023-10-26T19:54:33","modified_gmt":"2023-10-26T17:54:33","slug":"hong-kong-to-give-away-500000-plane-tickets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.english-tutor.at\/news\/hong-kong-to-give-away-500000-plane-tickets\/","title":{"rendered":"Hong Kong To Give Away 500,000 Plane Tickets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hong Kong&#8217;s <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"the people who rule the city\">government<\/a> is planning to give away 500,000 airplane tickets in the next few months in an <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"try\">attempt<\/a> to <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"here: to make the city interesting  so that people will come back\">attract<\/a> more tourists into the city. <\/p>\n\n<p>After the coronavirus <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"a disease or illness that affects many people in the whole world\">pandemic<\/a>, tourism has returned very slowly to Hong Kong. Because  the city followed China&#8217;s <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"lockdowns, keeping people at home and testing a lot to make sure that the  virus doesn't spread\">zero-COVID policy<\/a>, there were <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"you expect people to follow all the rules\">strict<\/a> <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"to keep people apart from each other because they may be carrying a disease\">quarantine<\/a> <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"here: rules\">laws<\/a> in place. Last year <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"the rules that control what people can do were made less strict\">restrictions were relaxed<\/a> and in January the <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"line between two countries\">border<\/a> to <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"the main part of China, without Hong Kong\">mainland<\/a> China was <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"opened again\">reopened<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The &#8220;<em>Hello Hong Kong<\/em>&#8221;  <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"here : actions\">campaign<\/a> was started by the city&#8217;s tourism <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"an official organization that is in charge of something and controls it\">authorities<\/a>. Starting in March, half a million tickets worth about 250 million dollars will be offered for flights on Hong Kong&#8217;s three airlines. The campaign is also <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"planned\">designed<\/a> to help the <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"here: with problems\">troubled<\/a> airlines, which lost most of their <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"income ; what they earn\">revenue<\/a> in the past three years.<\/p>\n\n<p>Travelers who want to get a ticket can take part in a <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"you buy tickets with numbers on them ; if your number is chosen, you win a prize - in this case an airline ticket\">lottery<\/a> starting in March.<\/p>\n\n<p>Before the pandemic, over 50 million people visited Hong Kong every year.
