{"id":151,"date":"2023-02-03T05:18:41","date_gmt":"2023-02-03T04:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.english-tutor.at\/news\/?p=151"},"modified":"2023-10-28T07:45:22","modified_gmt":"2023-10-28T05:45:22","slug":"pandemic-causes-students-to-lose-one-third-of-school-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.english-tutor.at\/news\/pandemic-causes-students-to-lose-one-third-of-school-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Pandemic Causes Students to Lose One Third of School Year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A new <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"report\">study<\/a> shows that students around the world lost about a third of a year&#8217;s learning <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"because of\">due to<\/a> the COVID <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"a disease that affects people in most parts of the world\">pandemic<\/a>. 15 countries were <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"look at, study\">examined<\/a>, most of them in the western world.<\/p>\n\n<p>During the first year of the pandemic, many countries closed down their schools in an <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"try\">attempt<\/a> to slow the <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"here: moving to many parts of the world\">spreading<\/a> of the virus. Learning from home led to many problems.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The report <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"to say or show\">states<\/a> that <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"learning from your home computer and not in the classroom\">distance learning<\/a> led to a wider <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"difference between groups of people\">gap<\/a> between students from different social classes. In families where <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"being able to use the internet\">internet  access<\/a> was bad or not <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"here: to be used\">available<\/a>, students fell behind most. Children in <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"poor countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America\">developing countries<\/a> and <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"with very little money to live\">low-income<\/a> families were hit the hardest by the pandemic.  <\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\" ... as said by\">According to<\/a> the study, pupils had  trouble in math  and reading.
