Almost 7 million Venezuelan citizens<\/a> have left their country since the economic<\/a> and political collapse<\/a> in 2014. It has been the second-largest refugee<\/a> crisis in the world. <\/p>\n\n

Most of the migrants<\/a> are fleeing<\/a> to neighbouring countries, especially<\/a> Columbia. Thousands are taking dangerous routes through the jungle north to Panama, but many of them do not survive<\/a> such a trip. In the past few months, an increasing<\/a> number of refugees have arrived in the United States. Venezuelans are the second-largest nationality migrating to the US, apart from<\/a> Mexicans. <\/p>\n\n

More and more Venezuelans want to leave their country and escape from violence<\/a>, insecurity<\/a>, a lack of<\/a> food and medicine. Not long ago, Venezuela was a major<\/a> oil-exporting country and one of the wealthiest<\/a> countries in Latin America. <\/p>\n\n

Today, it has one of the world’s highest inflation<\/a> rates. Most people live below the poverty line<\/a>. There are not enough basic<\/a> services, like hospitals, doctors, or schools. Hundreds of thousands of citizens do not have access<\/a> to clean water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
