Parents and their children produced livestreams, in which they asked their <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"someone who looks at messages and posts sent by others on a social media platform\">followers<\/a> for money. The BBC says that most of the money, up to 70 %, went to TikTok and only a small part reached the families.       <\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"a company that offers a service\">Agencies<\/a> and <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"people who do things for someone else\">middlemen<\/a> that worked with TikTok gave the <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"without a place to live\">homeless<\/a> families phones, <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"wireless internet connection\">WiFi<\/a>  and other <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"tools and objects you need to do something\">equipment<\/a> to produce the livestreams. <\/p>\n\n<p>TikTok&#8217;s users can <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"buy\">purchase<\/a> <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"a present that only exists on computers \">digital gifts<\/a> that viewers pay with real money. Most of it went to the company and its agencies. Only a <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"very small part\">fraction<\/a> reached the families <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"here: people who need help\">in need<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>TikTok has <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"react, answer\">responded<\/a> to the report, saying that they will <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"here: find out what happened\">look into<\/a> the matter. It would <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"here: to do something\">take action<\/a> to stop begging and <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"forbid, take away\">ban<\/a> accounts that <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"to do something that is against the rules\">violated<\/a> its <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"the rules that a company has and that all users must follow\">policy<\/a>.   <\/p>\n\n<p>In Syria, a brutal <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"two groups that fight against each other in  the same country\">civil war<\/a> has been <a href=\"#\/\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" title=\"to continue in a brutal way\">raging<\/a> for ten years. Up to 12 million people have lost their homes and jobs.
