Taftan, an almost 4,000-meter-high mountain, \u00a0is <strong>located <\/strong>in southeastern Iran, near the <strong>border <\/strong>with Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a very long time, Taftan was thought to be <strong>extinct<\/strong>, but in 2023 and 2024, <strong>scientists <\/strong>noticed something <strong>unusual<\/strong>: the ground near the top of the volcano started to <strong>rise<\/strong>. This <strong>indicated \u00a0<\/strong>that <strong>pressure <\/strong>was building up under the volcano, probably from hot gases or <strong>magma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Even though<\/strong> scientists say that an <strong>eruption <\/strong>is not likely at the moment, Taftan could become active again in the future.
