Fort Knox, is known as the place where America stores <\/strong>its gold. Located <\/strong>in Kentucky, the building was constructed <\/strong>in 1936 and has since stood for wealth <\/strong>and \u00a0financial security<\/strong> of the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gold bullions <\/strong>at Fort Knox are stored in a central vault <\/strong>made out of concrete <\/strong>and steel, with walls that are four feet thick. It is protected by a heavy door weighing <\/strong>more than 20 tons. The door can only be opened by a combination known to a small group of staff members<\/strong>. Inside the vault, the gold bars are on shelves and racks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security <\/strong>at Fort Knox is among the best in the world, with advanced <\/strong>alarm systems and , armed guards<\/strong>. A special police force is responsible <\/strong>for guarding <\/strong>the facility<\/strong>, and to enter <\/strong>the vault you must pass several layers <\/strong>of security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are about 4,600 tons of gold stored at Fort Knox, most of America\u2019s gold reserves. The value <\/strong>of this gold is estimated <\/strong>to be worth hundreds of billions <\/strong>of dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building has been the scene of many Hollywood films. One of the most famous is the James Bond movie Goldfinger<\/em>, in which a villain <\/strong>tries to contaminate <\/strong>the gold reserves held there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
