On October 18, 2025, millions of people in all parts of the United States took part in the “No Kings” protests to speak out against President Donald Trump and what they see as a threat to America’s democratic system. Almost 7 million people joined in the protests, staged in over 2,700 cities and towns.
The name “No Kings” comes from the idea that America should not be ruled by one powerful leader. Protesters say Trump is acting more like a king than a president. He uses government agents to silence his critics, ignores the Constitution and attacks immigrants.
Huge crowds gathered in big cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. Famous politicians like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren gave speeches. People in other countries around the globe also showed their support.
Organizers of the peaceful protests stated that their aim is to protect America and its values. Everyone should be heard — not just one man in power.
Although Republicans dismissed the protests as Democratic propaganda, many Americans saw them as a powerful message: that the country belongs to the people, not to one leader.
